Here’s a clear five-step way to handle landlord–tenant disputes:
Document Everything
Keep written records of your lease, rent payments, repair requests, photos/videos of issues, and any texts or emails with your landlord. Documentation is your strongest protection.Communicate Clearly and in Writing
Politely notify your landlord of the issue (repairs, deposit, etc.) in writing, with a date. Be specific about the problem and what you want done. This creates a paper trail.Know Your Rights
